Shop Guy

If you happen to stop by Newbury Street's new Reiss boutique you'll notice one thing: attractive salespeople. So when getsugar dropped in this week and caught sight of the stylish General Manager who happened to be visiting from New York, we took him aside, like we would any regular shop girl or guy, and asked him some questions.

Name? Waleed Abduelal

Age? 26

Attached? Married with child (a daughter who is eight months)

Hometown? New York City. As General Manager for Reiss' New York Stores, I oversee Boston as well. I'm here once every two weeks.

What's Hot for Fall? For women it's suiting and masculine, tailored jackets. Personally I love knitwear - big chunky sweaters are very sexy and fun. I love seeing a woman with a fitted skirt, chunky knit top and a high belt. For menswear, I like the gothic look with lots of leather. Or the "dandy," which Reiss is doing with cardigans and dress shirts. It's fun but not overstated. There's also lots of layering and accessories. Extra-long scarves and hats are everywhere.

What's Your Style? I like to be subtle but with a purpose... like I know what I'm doing and have style but am not trying too hard.

What Do You Do in Boston? I love Joe's across the street. Newbury Street is very hip and cool but Joe's doesn't take itself too seriously. I get the blackened chicken pasta every time.

Where Do You Shop? Seriously, I buy everything at Reiss, but I also like Jay Lindberg and John Varvatos. I also like to check out what's happening at Hugo Boss and Zara because I used to work there.

What Does It Take to Work at Reiss? You have to have a good work ethic and be fashion conscious. During job interviews I always ask people, "Do you feel lucky?" and depending on what they say you can tell a lot about them. I also ask, "How do you feel about working Sundays?".

What Do You Do Outside of Work? I work out, play football and hang out with my family. The last movie I saw was Monster House. It was a 3-D movie.

Who's Your Celebrity Look-Alike? Vin Diesel...my staff gives me a hard time about that.
