Thirsty Thursdays

Summer is in full swing, and getsugar hereby declares Thursday the new Friday. At least it is in this town, where most folks depart for points east, west, north and south (anywhere but here) on weekends, leaving Thursday as the big night for bar hopping and socializing. So we asked around and found out where some Thursday night revelers go to kick off their weekend a bit early. Our guess is that Boston employers are not seeing a spike of productivity on Friday mornings this summer.

Beantown-Tucket?
Charles Veysey, Beacon Hill: "I've been a bartender on Nantucket for the past 10 years [at the Straight Wharf, among other spots], and I still go there most weekends during the summer. On Thursday nights in Boston I go to The Vault to see Ty, Packie and 200 of my favorite longtime Nantucket drinking buddies." Editor's note: The Vault is a well-known Nantucket outpost on the mainland.

Taking it Outside
Sarah White & Kristine Orstrem, North End: "I usually go out with my roommates and my friends - a lot of us live in the North End," says Sarah. "In the summer, we love outdoor places...the roof deck at Fiore in the North End is my favorite because it has a great outdoor area, good pizza and it's close to home. We also go to The Landing (between the Marriot & the Aquarium), The Barking Crab, Tavern on the Water and Ironside Grill (in Charlestown), the Patio at the Living Room, the Sail Loft, Tia's (although it's really expensive and usually crowded) and random restaurants in the North End." Says Kristen, who happens to be Sarah's roommate: "Other outdoor bars we go we go to include The Seaport Bar & Grille (near Southie), outside at Kingfish, Ames Plow Tavern or Houston's in Faneuil Hall, and to the outdoor part of McCormick & Schmick's. There are also the outdoor places like Stephanie's on Newbury Street."

Working It
Sarah Pacheco, North End: "I work with non-profits, so I find myself going to a lot of benefits and work-related summer parties. Last Thursday I went to Jumpstart and Year Up's event to support urban youth at the Algonquin Club, which was a lot of fun. This week it's the BELL Field of Dreams Gala at Fenway Park and then low-key plans including dinner with a friend at Stella."

Brew Crew
Sarah Quintana & Lindsay Conlin, Brookline: "On Thursdays we like to go to The Avenue on Comm Ave in Brighton. It has dollar drafts and is a sports bar type place. For dinner we like to go to Sunset Grill (130 Brighton Ave. in Allston). It has a very extensive menu and over 100 beers on tap and 400 available by the bottle. Thursdays are usually more laid back for us especially during the summer."
