A Midsummer Night's Party

As co-chair of the Museum of Fine Arts Museum Council Summer Party, Heather Gebbia has been busy planning the upcoming event, which takes place on Saturday June 17. Heather, who works full-time as a lawyer at Holland & Holland, LLP in Boston is in charge of coordinating the evening's silent auction. But, let's face it, one of her biggest tasks is also finding a gorgeous dress for the black tie fete.

Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend
Luckily for Heather, Dorfman Jewelers, the Diamond Sponsor of the party, offered to loan the co-chairs some "ice" for the evening. Heather's pick: a 3.87 carat pear-shaped diamond and platinum necklace mounted with 15.01 carats of rose cut diamonds. The cost: a mere $132,000. And that's not all. She'll also wear rose cut platinum diamond earrings weighing a total of 6.22 carats, which go for about $45,000. Since the diamonds preceded the dress, Heather's style initiative was easy. "This year I wanted something somewhat simple that wouldn't overpower the jewelry... not a lot of beading or sequins," she said.

After four years of working with the Museum Council committee and co-chairing Summer Party events, Heather has some insight on the dress code for the evening. "It's not your average, stuffy black tie party. People get a little more creative and daring."

The Triple Crown
With stops at Karen Millen, BCBG, Barami, Saks, Serenella, Wish and Holiday, Heather settled on a chic and versatile black strapless dress by Melissa Masse at Holiday. This was an ironic choice because Heather's past two Summer Party dresses were found at Holiday. "The first year, I wore a pastel pink dress with black French toile by Tracy Reese and last year I wore a two-piece gold outfit by Ahteamela." Obviously three times is a charm at Holiday with this Audrey Hepburn-esque look, which she'll pair with strappy black sandals and a vintage clutch.

Tickets are still available to the Summer Party, which takes place next Saturday, June 17, from 8pm to 12am at the Museum of Fine Arts. A live band, dancing, hors d'oeuvres, silent art auction and a midnight Champagne toast will cap off the night.
